STUDENTS' LIFE
Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics is a modern leading higher educational establishment in Ukraine. It has the highest 4th level of state accreditation. 36,6 thousand people study at KNUTE. According to the rating of successful public organizations and employers the University takes the 4th honorable place.
The academic process and upbringing of youth are aimed at development of spirituality, universal values and patriotism. This is a creative process where teachers, instructors of the academic groups and students themselves take an active part. The organization of training and upbringing at the University is determined by the Laws of Ukraine "On Education" and "On Higher Education", the Statute of Organization of Academic Process in Higher Educational Establishments, the Statute of KNUTE, the Regulations of KNUTE and other normative and legal documents.
The following concepts and plans are active at the University:
• The concept on educational and organizational work with students;
• The Statute on educational and organizational, cultural and sport work at the departments;
• Long-term complete plan of the main directions, forms and methods of educational and organizational, cultural and sport work for 2006/2007 - 2010/2011 academic years;
• The plans on educational and organizational work with students for every academic year.
These plans are fulfilled by the cooperation between the University Administration, the Dean's Offices, the Faculties, the Department of Educational and Organizational Work, the Departments, the Arts Center, the Sports Club, the Museum of the University History and the instructors of the academic groups. The monthly newspaper "Universitet i Chas" facilitates this process. The Department of Educational and Organizational Work with the competent and experienced personnel and the practical psychologist coordinates the educational and organizational activity.
In order to form students' communicative and leadership skills, the ability to make quick and individual decisions the Institute of Youth "Intellect" functions under KNUTE. Specifically, it covers:
• the laboratory of professional diagnostics;
• the centre of career development;
• the centre of testing and monitoring of knowledge.
Students' life is diversified at the University. The favorable conditions for personality and creative genius development as well as for students' physical and healthy life-style growth have been created. 9 Boards of self-government, 14 student clubs, the Scientific Board of Young Scientists and Students, 12 groups of sport development function at the University. In the Arts Center work 6 art groups. Over 200 students-sportsmen take part in the world and international competitions, Olympic games, All-Ukrainian and city sports contests. Among them 1 Honored master of sports, 10 international class masters of sports, 49 masters and 88 candidates for masters of sports. 5 students of KNUTE were the participants of the Olympic Games in 2004 in Athens and 6 students took part in the Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing. The essential educational work is carried out with the students who reside in the hostels. All necessary living conditions have been created for them.
For successful studying, high achievements in scientific work and active part in social life of the University 7 students receive grants of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and also over 40 students receive personal grants of the Scientific Board of KNUTE, a number of banks and organizations.
