The scientific library of Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics is cultural-educational establishment that reports to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. It was founded in 1948 as a branch of Donetsk institution of soviet trade (the book fund is over 20 000 publications). Since 1966 it has been the library of Kyiv University of Trade and Economics (the modern name since 1994). Since 1966 up to 1987 the director of the library was Vaschenko Zinaida Leontievna.
Since 1987 Shestopalova Liliya Sergievna has been the director of the library.
The library is situated in the separate area of 5600m2. The structure of the library consists of 9 departments. The library has all the comfortable opportunities for information users. They can use 7 reading halls, lending library, MBA, as well as special sectors such as multimedia library, the hall of foreign literature, the hall of catalogues and electronic information. The book fund consists over of 1 200 000 publications, 950 000 of which are actively used (720 000 are educational editions; 380 000 are scientific editions and 495 names of periodical publications). Every year the fund is added with 60 000 publications.
The library fund is formed according to the type of the University and is added with the most modern publications that concern economics, finance, management, information systems and technology, law and social-political literature, periodical publications, methodical and informational materials, the publications of the university (text books, methodical recommendations and recommendations for a lot of educational disciplines).
The main function of the library is information providing of scientific and educational process of the university. The library is co-working with the deans, faculties, departments and other organization of the university, conducting different information meetings. 49 librarians work in the library who provide 43,7 thousand of users with 870 000 of documents every year. An average visit of readers is over 352 000 of people. Since 1995 the computerization of library processes has been provided as well as the automatization of all technological cycles on the base of software "UFD/Library". An electronic catalogue, which provides information, an automated information service, book service, the service of readers and audit of the library funds are also provided. The department of automatization with 100 personal computers which are connected to the local university network is also created. Through Internet you can consult national and foreign resources.
Today the automated library information system offers to the readers the following data bases: over 100 000 documents in the electronic catalogue of books and articles, "Periodical publications", "The work of the professors of KNUTE", "The normative acts of Ukraine" and information lists to help the educational process. The creation of electronic library of text-books has been started. The organization of access to the original text books is also started. The organization of the access to the original resources of international network is very important in the work of the library.

• The global data base of market information of the company Euromonitor.
• The original base of the theses of the Russian State Library.
• The information system "Rubikon".
